North Pond - The Proposal!

Her Story:

North Pond is a beautiful pond in Chicago’s Lincoln Park with gorgeous views of the city skyline. It is also home of a Michelin Star restaurant of the same name. Katy lived a block away from North Pond for five years and loved to walk through the park and enjoy the skyline views.

One fine day in December 2015, Katy was led on a ‘Tour of Deception’ by her good friends Cheslyn and Nikki. Katy left Diego at home while she obliviously enjoyed a morning out with the girls getting her hair and nails done and having brunch. After brunch the trio went for a walk in Lincoln Park and just happened to meet friends Michelle, Andy and baby Will! What a coincidence! While the group chatted outside of North Pond, Katy heard a loud trumpet noise and looked up the hill to see Diego leading a troupe of Mariachis toward her! Katy was in shock to see Diego in a full Mariachi outfit, and was enjoying her “birthday present” when suddenly Diego started saying very loving things, and got down on one knee. The rest is history, and the big day is finally here!

His Story:

December 5th was the day, and it was a cold and crisp afternoon in Chicago. While Katy was out with Cheslyn and Nikki, Diego was impatiently waiting for a Mariachi band to arrive to Lincoln Park. The band finally arrived, and then he got the signal from Cheslyn: "We're here".

He then started making his way through Lincoln Park trying not to draw much attention, which turned out to be extremely difficult when you are being followed by 8 Mariachi musicians. Diego and the band arrived, and the music started, Katy was at first confused but after a few seconds she knew that the 9th mariachi was Diego!

After a few songs, Diego went down on one knee, displayed the ring and popped the question. There was no answer. He then tried asking again, still no answer. The mariachi singer started signaling Diego to figure out if they should start playing. Then Diego asked for a third time, but now he added "You know, I think I need a verbal answer for this question" and then she said it "Yes!"
